For me personally, abroad trip has never been the plan, or been the priority as I always feel India has a lot to offer than any other foreign country or continent.
I still remember a foreigner whom I met in Meghalaya, who told me -
I understand you Indians want to fly abroad, but I wonder why you all never have any idea of what your own country has for you all; the nature, marvels, and what not, this country has everything man. One should first respect and understand their roots, before even thinking to spend off the country!
But, this time it was truly because of the cohort with whom I went, my college friends wanted a graduation trip, outside the country, in budget (most important xD). So, it was some South East Asian country, we were thinking of Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, etc.
One priority for my friends was to involve adventure activities, and not just visiting places. Cool, this gave us the easiest solution - let’s go to Bali❤️
So, this becomes the first abroad trip for Footboard, let’s start🫶🏼
We were a group of 9 people, who planned for a week of vacay there in Bali. Our planning started much early in January, for a trip in March 2nd week.
But, the sudden news on HMPV paused our entire planning, and we waited for a month to get clear on the restrictions, if any.
Around February last week, it was already late, and we got our flight tickets first. We got Air Asia and Scoot for onwards and return respectively. We were a bit skeptical on Scoot, as it had very bad reviews online, but it was very highly comfortable than any of our expectations.
Just check on the cabin luggage, because some airlines allow only hand luggage and also have weight restrictions on them - so note this before you book a flight.
Then we started hunting down our homestays and villa at Bali - be informed that Bali is known for such beautiful and comfy villas, which is offered at good prices also. Check out Airbnb for some genuine stay options. Strongly suggest to use villas, instead of hotels. Choose one which has good reviews and comparatively closer to the city, to access anything, if needed
Hotels are even more cheaper, so decide based on your budget. For a simpler price, you can beautiful hotels also in the city centre.
What’s the plan?
March 16 - Flight Onwards to Denpasar (Kuala Lumpur transit)
March 17 - March 23 - Bali Vacay
March 24 - Flight Return to Chennai (Singapore Transit)
Below is the overall plan over the week of stay in Bali -
We’ll unravel and discuss each of the place in subsequent blogs. Promise, there’s lot of interesting content for us to share with you.
Wait and enjoy the Bali Series!
