Most tourists go to conventional places under package bookings – a guided tour basically🙁
Most of them still don’t have an idea about planning a trip for themselves – small research which would give them the entire control of their vacations🥰
Looks hard – but it isn’t💖
It hardly takes you an hour to completely craft a proper tour plan for yourselves🤩
I would love to discuss my way, which I think would suit any kind of travel planning.
I am not going to go over every detail - but would be covering some important details which would complement your trip ideas in some way.
Transportation
Most of the time, if the transport gets sorted - everything else will get in line✨. If you don’t have a confirmed ticket, make sure you get one at the right time without fail.
Coming to transport inside the XYZ city – if you are a solo traveler, and comfortable with a bike taxi, make sure you have one at the place.
In my personal experience, private taxi services like Ola/Uber cost very less, on a per-trip basis; but not for package tours.
If you want package tours, as in a 6hr/8hr/10hr taxi usage, contact your hotel manager for one, as they have local contacts and get you one at lower rates.
Autos/rickshaws/taxis definitely ask you for higher rates if you approach them on-road. If you are good at bargaining, you can always get the transport fares lesser anytime.
Accommodation
Then proceed with the stay/accommodation. This depends more on each of your comfort levels – whether you want one near the railway station/airport, or your hotel or something comfy to the tourist attractions, etc.
It is always better to find accommodation at the intersection of all the criteria mentioned above.
Budget
Always, always have a clear idea of your budget🧐- try to record each of your expenses during the travel. This seems off the track when you are enjoying one - but track all your payments through the SMS you get after online payments and record an approximate for the cash payments.
This budgeting makes more sense especially if you are on a solo trip.
Tour Plan
Next, coming to your tour plan – Google “places to visit in XYZ city” or “tourist attractions in XYZ”. The top 5-7 results will always be more than enough, which will give you a list of 40-50 attractions you have at XYZ.
List down all the places you want to complete in the circuit – at this stage, consider at least 50% of the list.
Out of that 50%, only 10-15% would be already famous, and others would be deceptive, or you might have no idea about the same.
Go for tourist reviews – explore the recent reviews regarding the place by the visitors. You get the same in many travel-based pages like MakeMyTrip, and Trip Advisor, At the same time images about the place, would help you too.
By this, you can filter out a map of your trip plan.
Now, consider these factors for these places🤔–
Distance
Time to visit them (which includes the commute, opening/closing time of the places, and the time to go around them)
Open Maps on your devices, and start finding the distance between each of them.
You can find A, C, F, and G closer to each of them – may be walkable too. Just imagine that these 4 places can be covered in one full day. Now, both distance and time are sorted.
So, this is your first circuit – let’s name this Circuit 123. You can plan one day for this.
For example, you can visit this blog here. The itinerary was based on this circuit idea. Something like the one below.
Similarly, you can plan your other circuits and allot a day for them💥

Team BHP - Forum
If you want reviews on road conditions🚗 and travelogues, you can search the same with “team bhp” in your Google search.
Most of you would have seen a sticker of the same in many cars, in your childhood at least. The problem with Team BHP is –
Out of date – they have become too old, and there aren’t many recent reviews - this is in regard with the travelogues only. Newer content are very less, but older content also make better sense.
Due to their lesser activity in recent times – their SEO has gone down severely – you don’t get their pages unless you mention the words, ‘team bhp’ in your search box👀
But, every review in them is tested and proven. In reality, it is a review page for cars and services - but they do have a forum for travelogues.
Fun Fact – Team BHP conducted a writing test😂to publish on their pages. Only after approval of sample submission, they were allowed as contributing members.
Long back, they had a strict condition of making its writers give real content, in an easily understandable language – or else it wasn’t allowing the content to be posted.
Customer Reviews
Explore the recent reviews regarding the place by the visitors. You get the same in many travel-based pages like MakeMyTrip, Quora, Tripoto, and Trip Advisor. It gives you an edge to prioritize the places you want to add/remove from the plan.
I wouldn’t suggest looking for images of a place, which may be deceiving, but they do work sometimes.
Blog Pages
Try searching for “one day trip to X blog”, or “travel plan to X”. You would get blog articles under these searches, and sometimes you would have to reach the untouched spaces of the world - here referring to Google’s search results in 2nd or 3rd pages.
Blogs give a clear picture of the real experience one had faced - and you can have a guess of how a place would be and get the reviews from it.
I hope Footboard does serve you in that way🙈
